| Wuhu County having a long history and renowned figures was first recorded as a fief named Jiuzi in the Spring and Autumn Period and as a county in the second year(109 BC) of the Yuanfeng Period reigned by Emperor Wu in the Han Dynasty. There are several historic sites in the county such as the city ruins of the Chu State,th Ninety Palaces of the southern Tang Kingdom,the Xuancheng Guan Kiln,the Henglang Pagoda of the Song Dynasty,and so on. Located in the along-border(specifically,the borders of Jiansu province and Zhejiang Province) and along-river(specifically,the Yangze river)junction in the planned development strategy of Anhui Province,Wuhu County has a humid subtropical monsoon climate and four distinct seasons with mean annual temperature of 15 ¡æ to 16 ¡æ,mean annual frost-free of 219 days to 240 days,annual sunshine duration of about 2,000 hours and mean annual precipitation of 1,200 mm to 1,400 mm,and has a population of 345,000,a territory of 667 sq.km,and 5 towns under jurisdiction.... |
